Our class 3D sold snacks packed in plastic wrappers which were packed by ourselves for our service learning. About a few days after packaging, we then sold these packs at $2.50 each during the recesses of both the upper and lower secondary. We also went class buy class to sell excess OREO's that we bought in hopes to raise more funds to donate to the needy. Many times I have seen people trying to raise fund for charities in public and often find it difficult. We were lucky enough to be selling the packs in our school as we could get more support from our peers, rather than in public. Thus, after this service learning experience, I have decided to be more proactive in helping other people.
The worst thing during the service learning project was selling the packs as although the packs were meant for charity, many students were reluctant to buy the packs as it was a little too expensive. Also, it was hard to approach people as most would just ignore or say no. However, luck was on our side and a group of overseas visitors to our school walked by our booth and we managed to sell quite a number of packs to them! This ended up to be both the best and worst thing that happened to me during this service learning experience!!
I would definitely be staying involved in the community in the future as I find helping others very meaningful as we should always give back to the society.
