3D Rishabh Datta (7)

The Service learning project has indeed been one of the most memorable experiences of my secondary school life. The project was simple yet effective. Selling gift packs filled with various kinds of snacks, we raised money for charity. This project has greatly influenced my attitude towards society. In just a few days' time, I saw myself transform from a self-centered individual to a selfless student who finds joy in serving the community. I had never been an active participant in community involvement projects. However, a simple gesture like selling gift packs for a good cause gave me immense self-satisfaction – something that I had not experienced in a long time.

Persuading people to buy our gift packs was the most challenging part of our project. Although many people willingly bought our gift packs, some considered them overpriced. Then it would be our duty to justify the cost, and to tell them how it would eventually benefit the underprivileged. Although I succeeded on a number of occasions, there were still times when I could not convince people to buy the gift packs.

I would definitely like to be involved in the community in the years to come. This experience has been an eye-opener for me, and has taught me an invaluable lesson –"In giving, there is no loss, only gain."
