My class, 3D, chose to sell fun packs of snacks costing $2.50 for service learning with all proceeds going to a good cause!
Service-learning has changed my thinking as I had always thought that community was useless work that was meant for others with too much free time on their hands to do. But after helping out with service learning, I learnt that there was something more meaningful in doing something that didn't benefit one's self.
My best experience during service learning was selling the goody bags as they really meant something when you succeeded in selling one. My worst? The inability to sell many of them seeing as how I was never a very good sales person.
I see myself helping out in the community in the future to get that "feel good" feeling that you get when you do something meaningful. It adds a little something to your hectic life in college and the adult years, what with work and studies making life hectic.
