Reflections
Service learning has given me an opportunity to help the needy, and in the process, putting myself into other's shoes. I am contented that I can play a part in contributing to the society, through selling of gift packs to raise funds for charity. Each gift pack was priced at $2.50 and it consists of an Oreo pack, two packets of jelly and some snack packets. The worst thing that happened was the sale of the gift packs. Most of the students are unwilling to purchase these packs and it was rather difficult to persuade them to buy. Despite these setbacks, there are others who are willing to contribute and I really appreciate their help. I learnt that everyone has a role to play to help the needy.
I see myself staying involved in the community. We cannot rely on the government to help us through welfare benefits, but we should depend on ourselves. I feel that if we are able to afford the living expenses, we should help others too.
