3D Wang Mo Di (37)

The Service Learning experience was a refreshing experience for me. I never realized that showing care for the less unfortunate can be as simple as packing fun packs and raising funds for charity. It does not matter how big or small our actions can contribute to the society, it is really the effort we put in that matters.Even though our service learning is not a large event, we can still show compassion and love through our hearts. This experience have changed my attitude towards fund raising and I have learnt that giving back to the society comes in many ways.

For our service learning, we packed Fun Packs that consists Oreo biscuits, Mamee noodles, jellies and other tidbits. We planned to sell them at a price of $2.50 and all proceeds will be donated to charitable organizations in Singapore.however, when we were selling these fun packs, some people were unwilling to pay $2.50 and said it was 'not worth it' and were more concerned about the contents than our cause. Some people also tried to bargain the price and they did not even believe that we were doing this for charity. It was difficult to sell the fun packs  as people were
indifferently or calculative towards  doing a charitable act and doubt our cause to the fund raising.

In the future, I will take on every opportunity  available to do my part for the society. This is because not everyone is as fortunate as you and me and they need help in their lives. We need to put ourselves in their shoes and understand how our minute contributions can meaning a lot to them. The rewarding experience will be beneficial to them and to me, as I will learn and be a better person.
