3D Yew Wei An (38)

Our class wrapped and sold gift packs to raise funds for charity for our service learning project. It was a humble, yet meaningful gesture which made me aware of the groups of underprivileged people living in our midst. We are often so caught up in our endeavours for personal success that we are blind to the people around us who require our care and concern. Through this activity, I realised the importance of giving back to the society.

The worst thing that happened was that some students were not really receptive to our cause. They deemed the fun packs too expensive, despite the fact that all proceeds would go to charity. Through this I learnt that not everyone would support our causes, however noble they were.

I would continue to be involved in community efforts, as this activity taught me that we do not live for the sole purpose of carving a future out for ourselves, but to embrace the needs of other underprivileged individuals as well.
