3D Victor Tang (35)

Service-learning was a whole new experience for me as I have very seldom or not at all done anything like this. It has certainly created an impact on me, such as changing my thinking, attitudes and actions towards others myself and the community. For example, now, before I discard an item that I deem as useless, it will occur to me that there are people out there who cannot afford this item and therefore I should maximise the usage of this item. For my class, for this year's service learning, we sold our very own "Fun Packs". From packing the packs to selling them, it was all worth the time and effort as we managed to raise quite a sum. It might be not much but every penny can count for a lot in the long run. What i think is even more memorable throughout this experience is that even though the packs were slightly overpriced, there were still people who were willing to buy them for the sake of helping charities.. It really go against the current mentality of our current generation that we are either to heartless or too caught up with our work to notice about these small actions. All in all, this service-learning has reminded me that there are people out there who are in need of help, whether financially or whatsoever, so in the future, if presented with the opportunity, I would be involved in the community whether is it in my college years or adult years.
